IWSG: I Should Be Writing

Brought to us by Alex J. Cavanaugh , sensei and founder of the Insecure Writer's Support Group . I am writing this a week ahead because my dates were all discombobulated, and I thought January started already, but hey... While my current MS is in CP mode, I've been doing a lot of extra reading (by extra, I mean I've passed my goal on Goodreads), but I haven't done that much writing. I've been wavering back and forth on it, but I plan on doing some writing in 2016. I have many stories I've already started and one I've written like 1/4 of a scene for, but that I have ideas for, just need to flesh them out. I'm anxious about it, but writing is almost always what I set out to do, so I need to hold on for dear life. Wish me luck!

IWSG: Am I Wasting My Time?

Brought to us by Alex J. Cavanaugh , sensei and founder of the Insecure Writer's Support Group . Every now and then, I sincerely wonder if I'm wasting my time. I've been writing since I was a little girl, and I'm pretty sure most around me have given up the hope that I'll ever have a book on anybody's shelf. If they haven't, they certainly haven't said anything uplifting to me or even asked how my writing's going. I've fortunately found a great CP, and I know for certain that I'm done with Twitter contests, if not contests as a whole. And I know the standard phrase of encouragement is "At least you finished a novel!" but it's not conducive, productive, or constructive. No offense meant to those who say it. And then there is the blogging itself. I've taken a few breaks from the fatigue and sometimes futility of it all. Not many listen to me offline. Who is reading what I'm saying online? IWSG: This is The Voice!

Well, technically it's the voice. Firstly, Happy New Year! Secondly, it's the first Wednesday, which means it's time for another Insecure Writer's Support Group post. Visit our great sensei Alex J. Cavanaugh and the IWSG site (linked in the previous sentence) to join us and visit the hosts for this month! A couple of years ago, I said that I wouldn't do another pitch contest. Then, I entered Fractured Princess into one in Fall 2016, got a SLEW of agent likes and requests to see more, and then received rejection after rejection after rejection. Though I did get two "Can I see more?" requests after sending the query, so I didn't lose hope. Fall 2017, I did it again after a major overhaul to the manuscript. I didn't receive as many likes, but that actually saved me some time in sending out queries. Unfortunately, no bites this time, either. The general consensus is that the voice isn't grabbing them.
